Updates & Cancellations

Kiwanis Park & Millvale Community Library:   Updates & Cancellation Info.

kiwanis park yoga 2014 august 001

for many of us, as the summer ends, fall is a time of new beginnings. some exciting things are happening behind the scenes for me and LLS. although the studio is almost a year gone, the mission work still remains at the forefront. the millvale library program has been active for one month and each week, takes on new members. last saturday, i spoke with brian wolovich about the continuance of the library project, and as ever, he is completely supportive. as the colder and inclement weather approaches, our migrating inward and finding a configuration that works for all is the next problem to solve.  he is confident that it is not a problem at all!!!  great thanks to brian, lisa seel and the library for allowing LLS to bring yoga to millvale and the surrounding communities. the hope is that others will discover how yoga has the power to improve the quality and condition of their life.

kiwanis continues on the tennis courts and we will run for as long as we can stand it. there is a beatufiul core group who continue to ‘show up’ come rain or come shine! the plan is to run through september and october and see how naughty or nice november is but my guess is that halloween will probably be as long as we will dare to go! part of the fun is not knowing for sure 🙂

THIS SATURDAY, 8/30/14, THERE WILL BE NO CLASSES DUE TO THE HOLIDAY WEEKEND @ Kiwanis Park or the Millvale Library. classes will resume the following saturday.

Oxford Athletic Club:  Teaching Schedule

in july, i was hired to start teaching in the mind/body department at the Oxford Athletic Club in Wexford, PA.  since this is a private club, classes are available to members only.  please refer to their website by going to this link http://www.oxfordathleticclub.com/  for class information and details.

my dedicated classes are monday nights @ 6:45p “mixed levels yoga” and thursdays @ 12:00p “yoga I”.  both classes are 60 minutes in duration.

Schoolhouse Yoga:  Substitute Teacher (Random Schedule)

it is my extreme pleasure to announce that i am now on the roster at Schoolhouse Yoga.  my availability will be on a ‘sub’ basis and i will post weekly updates on when & what location i may be subbing, if any.

this upcoming week i will be at the north hills studio and covering the tuesday evening (sept. 2), “yoga 2” class @ 6:30p – 7:45p.  this is an unheated class.

Medica…The Healing Arts:  Small Group Classes Coming

in august, beverly leopold and i confirmed our commitment to bringing specialized, small group therapeutic yoga to Medica’s space.  more details will be forthcoming at the end of this month.  if you don’t already know, Medica has brought in some pretty incredible new modes of therapy.  they have also done an outstanding state-of-the-art upgradge to the MBO system and it can only benefit everyone!  want to check out what their new products and services are?!  go to http://www.medicathehealingarts.com.

UPMC St. Margaret’s Hospital:  Yoga Classes Every Tuesday @ 4:00pm

thanks to the gumption of a very serious yogi and clinician, doris cavlovich, the yoga program at St. Margaret’s has been running weekly thanks to her impressive desire to implement and sustain it.  anyone who works at the hospital is invited to learn and attend.  all are welcome!  this is a donation class.  any questions contact me directly or doris at St. Margaret’s.  the yoga is gentle to intermediate, depending on your abilities and the ER is right down the hallway…just kidding!  what good is a yogi without humor ;o)

so for those of you who continually ask me where it is that they can try and come and take class, these are your options. any questions or comments, always, ALWAYS please let me know.

i hope you all have a beautiful and calm labor day holiday weekend.  take the time to just be still and relish what it is that you love.  see you soon wonderful yogis!!!  🙂

Storm May Cancel First Class @ Embody – PLEASE STAY TUNED!

Tonight’s big news is that we are all  bracing for another bout of winter wickedness…AS IF we have not had enough already!  So the only thing we can do now is to wait and watch.  Be sure to check your email and this site for cancellation information.  If the school districts (shaler & surrounding communities) have gone to a 2-hour delay or closing, the morning class will be cancelled.

I also post real-time cancellations and important class info. via twitter at @lizzzrrdlounge.  So the choice is yours just make sure that you do check facebook, this site, email or twitter to be ‘in the know’ BEFORE YOU LEAVE THE HOUSE.  Stay safe and warm yogis!!!

Schedule Reminders This Week & Miscellaneous Stuff

As we venture into the second week of the new schedule, I just wanted to remind you all that this Saturday’s 12:30pm mindful flow is cancelled.  Cancellations don’t happen often but as we head into the winter months, it is good to take this time to remind patrons that school cancellations and delays affect the morning schedule.  Please be sure to check the website blog/facebook or for more immediate info, follow the studio on twitter (@lizzzrrdlounge), when the weather gets frightful.  Your understanding is so appreciated at these times in particular.

Saturday is looking absolutely spot-on for yoga at kiwanis!  How are we getting so lucky?!  I may be dating myself by saying this but “somebody up there likes me/us!”  And doesn’t that make you wonder where this icon went?!  I digress as usual….

A workshop is in the planning stages.  It is not necessarily a workshop built around the asanas, which is just one limb of the eight limbs of yoga but there may be a component though.  Are you getting curious?1  I hope so.  It’s part of the dual function of the studio as well, not only to furnish the space to facilitate our asana practice, but to really cultivate other avenues in order to bring us closer to our selves, and our own true nature.  To move us toward action.  So stay tuned, being born takes some time and lots of really good coffee and conversation…which reminds me!  if you ever have an idea that you want to share, please always feel free.  The studio IS a communal space.  It can can serve many purposes and people.  Just contact me via any which way you can 🙂

Back to the business of schedules…

New schedules have been printed, so be sure to grab one when you can!

Friday’s schedule:

11:00am – 12:00pm   basics

That’s it for today.  I hope that everyone is managing to get through what has been a very interesting week within our nation’s history.  Let’s hope that the anxiety and hysteria continually created by the media begins to die down soon.

Be well and don’t forget to hit the “follow” button on this site if you automatically want to be notified when any new activity is posted.

Build the Ark and Get to the Studio Today!

It looks like we have to call a foul on this day. Weather is not going to permit practice. Make your way to the studio if you can. Whatever your plans are this weekend, I hope it’s a great one and look forward to seeing you all again next saturday!

A reminder that Monday’s also offer two donation-based classes of a walking meditation from 4:30pm to 5:00pm and Fibromyalgia/Gentle at 5:15pm (45 minutes). Mindful Flow at 6:15pm (75 minutes and is for all levels) is the last class and is offered at the regular class price of $12.00 walk-in rate or $9.00 discount. Passes and the new client $20.00 special for two weeks is always in place.

namaste 🙂

Discover Yoga in the Park Article

good morning, friends and yogis.  here’s hoping that your holiday was spent safely and happily doing what you wanted to do and with whom.

for those of you who are discovering about the yoga in the park series, you know how wonderful it is to practice in the early morning air and welcome the sun as it makes its climb high into the sky.  some of you are stumbling to this site thanks to an article by bethany hofstetter in the pine creek journal.  any way you come to your yoga is the right way–the way it’s supposed to happen.  so many of us ask “why couldn’t i have discovered it sooner?!”  well, the answer to that is always the same…you weren’t meant to.  if the desire has been with you to try and it and you live in the shaler area (and surrounding, it is not reserved for shaler residents alone), just show up.  it’s as simple as that.

Yoga in the Park

due to the extreme weather conditions and the 2-hour school delays posted to all major school districts in the area, tomorrow’s (wednesday, 1/23) 9:15a class must be cancelled.  this will be the rule when there are 2-hour school delays.  thank you for your understanding and patience.
