Miscellaneous Updates

as we are now in the full swing of summer, many of us are intensely enjoying these long and unpredictable days of summer. i hope that you all are doing a little of what you love daily, even if it isn’t always on the terms you’d like.

some changes to my community teaching schedule are occurring. although i enjoyed my time at embody, we have decided to end the wednesday and friday morning classes. oxford athletic club has invited me to be a part of their mind/body program which i am very excited about. kristi coleman is also a part of that team which makes me especially happy! it’s nice to be able to be a part of a group sincerely dedicated to the enrichment of mind, body and spirit.

the yoga program at the millvale community library kicks off this saturday at 10:00am and it’s FREE! finally!!!! it has been a year in the planning and the library is going strong. there are some super amazing classes that are offered that you may want to check out for kids and adults. gentle yoga is on the 1st and 3rd saturday and yoga I is offered on the 2nd and 4th saturday. essentially, it is all levels but the gentle is really for those who have more restrications in their practice and can’t necessarily do the down-up routine.

thanks to a dedicated former client, UPMC st. margaret’s now has a yoga program! on tuesday, july 8th was our first session and it is open to staff and clinicians. this is a donation class ($10.00 minimum suggested). currently, we have set tuesdays at 4:00pm (60 min.) as our designated time. if you are interested, send me a note ūüôā

two new BIG programs are also in the works.

kiwanis park is on for tomorrow and since it is going to be a great morning, get your spot early because the court can fill up quickly…especially if you like the back! more than likely we are rotating though, so don’t get comfortable ūüėČ

that’s the news for now. thanks for lending me your time and eyes and i look forward to seeing you tomorrow or whenever time allows!

namaste, yogis!

Updates & Miscellaneous News

hello yogis!

It has been so good to see your beautiful faces coming to the 9:15am classes @ Embody on Wednesdays and Fridays…kinda just like old times just with different ‘framing’! ¬†The studio at Embody is light and lovely with it’s soft violet haze and lots of windows to let the sun shine in. ¬†The juice & natural food bar opens early so it’s a nice little place to plant yourself and have some tea or other nourishment before practice.

Dates have been finalized for Kiwanis 2014!!!! ¬†start date is saturday, may 3rd! ¬†the schedule will be forthcoming but i just wanted to confirm the most important date being the start ūüôā

This saturday, Feb. 15th, Medica will be hosting and running a fantastic EXPO on everything around DETOXING. ¬†The timing couldn’t be better as we begin to transition from the harshest of winter months into the slow gentle beginnings of rebirth…SPRING! ¬†IT WILL BE HERE but the question is how do we prepare ourselves mentally and physically for this stage. ¬†What can we do differently this time? ¬†What negative habits can we replace with beneficial one…we certainly have enough time to reprogram between now and then. ¬†So it’s important to really look at what is going on in your life and in your own personal ‘house’; take stock, reevaluate and purge. ¬†It’s time for renewal and the cultivation of what best serves you. ¬†Let Beverly guide you and answer these questions. ¬†There’s even a chance to work your asanas! ¬†An all-level yoga session will be offered at 2:00pm with yours truly. ¬†This session will be an entry point for many, so there should be no expectation about what is possible or impossible. ¬†Just be present and allow yourself to be guided…that is all. ¬†Space is limited so please follow this link for registration and ticket information….http://www.medicathehealingarts.com/Events.html

Some interesting things are underway for an official start of some community classes coming to the millvale area…stay tuned. ¬†More information should be streaming in a few weeks.

Many have asked me how it feels now not having the studio. ¬†My initial response is of course sadness because I truly loved the space and that it was OUR SPACE, but now, I truly love being portable…mobile and not tethered to one spot. ¬†That I can connect daily outside with all kinds of folks and really work on my work with the community-at-large–that’s oxygen for my fire!!! ¬†I couldn’t feel more vital and focused right now. ¬†So that’s the really super news!!! ¬†2014 is turning out be be an extremely pivotal year for me…i hope that the same is true for you, and that it is really about coming closer to the things/endeavors and people you truly care about. ¬†The things that build you up and help reveal more to you about who and what you truly are about…your own missions and dreams.

I look forward to seeing more of the faces that blessed 2013 and even more new ones just waiting in the wings. ¬†We can never even imagine the goodness that’s out there waiting for us, one connection at a time leading us to the well…the well-th. ¬†wholeness.

Thanks for reading these goofy posts and staying connected in all the ways you do.   as ever, sending love and hope to you all.

December News: Studio Location is Closing :’^(

Well…based on the title of this post, it kind of says it all. ¬†Many of you who regularly attend the studio know that in October, I hit a rough patch with Hampton Township. ¬†The Township had initially okay’d a renewal of Occupany Permit, but then it slowly became a quagmire of misinformation and defiance on their part. ¬†Ultimately, the ¬†Occupancy Permit granted to myself or my landlord was being denied unless the landlord ¬†made thousands of dollars in upgrades/retrofitting to the existing property (in order to satisfy the ordinance requirements based on their new classification of business). ¬†I have tried everything within my powers to stay within this very sacred space, but the reality is, that it is simply impossible based on the strong-arm tactics of this Township. ¬†I do not want to further jeapordize my landlord’s relationship with the Township, so it is with great, GREAT sadness that i make this announcement formally. At a time when (my) the business of yoga was really taking hold professionally, to have to close the physical space and leave many of you without a daily source–is thoroughly heart-breaking for me! ¬†PLEASE KNOW THAT!!!!

So what does this mean?!

This means that my physical, dedicated space is no longer available but i will still be found teaching in other parts around the city and am available for private consulation and group sessions. ¬†And of course, when the warm weather hits again starting at the beginning of May 2014–Yoga @ Kiwanis Park! ¬†Every Saturday @ 8:00am. ¬†I will be posting the dates on this site once confirmed with ¬†Shaler Township was has already given their approval ūüôā

How can you book a private session or a mother’s group or other special party/corporate class?

Still continue to stay connected to the studio facebook page–i will be a portable entity–nothing new to a gypsy from birth! ¬†Continue to frequent this blogspot and stay informed by adding yourself to the email followers by pressing the “follow” button. ¬†If you are interested in setting up your own private session or mother’s group (you want to start in your home or someone else’s) or any other type of private party or corporate instruction, just contact me directly via email or the telephone number listed.

Where will i be in the immediate future?

I am going to be joining the family and alliance at Medica…the Healing Arts (http://www.medicathehealingarts.com/) in the North Hills. ¬†Yoga therapy is now under the umbrella of their expansive healing modalities! ¬†The ancient practice of yoga and it’s miraculous benefits have been known for centuries but are only now being scientifically demystified and promoted (for a reason!). ¬†Yoga is one of the best self-help tools known to wo/man…only too many of us haven’t discovered it yet! ¬†That continues to be my job ūüôā ¬†So contact me or go directly to Medica’s site and you can find out more and how to book right online!

When is the last day of operation at the studio?

The last day of operation is planned for Saturday, December 28th.  The two morning classes will run as planned.

Last Hurrah planned following last class…

Please join me and other patrons on Saturday, December 28th for a drop-in, hang-out and ‘right proper’ good-bye! ¬†Bring a pot luck or food item and spend some time together before the studio is dismantled and disbanded. ¬†It will give me an opportunity to thank you for bringing your devoted energy & essence and such purpose to my life for the last year, and just a little more time to look into those wonderful eyes and really see the soul of such a treasured yogi (friend)!

This has been such a terribly hard reality to confront but like all things–it is a new beginning that is prefaced by a VERY…SAD…END. ¬†The comfort is in knowing that the connections do not end.

If you have any further questions or comments, just comment or email me.

I hope that I will get to see many of you personally from now until the closing. ¬†Christmas has been taglined the ‘season of giving’ but at the studio, it has been a season of endless giving. ¬†It will always remain that the student is who it is about…all of it. ¬†You rocked, rolled and ruled…and still do ūüôā

Peace, love, namaste and all good things to you my dear, dear friends and loving practitioners.  It is only because of you that I existed at all.

Schedule Reminders This Week & Miscellaneous Stuff

As we venture into the second week of the new schedule, I just wanted to remind you all that this Saturday’s 12:30pm mindful flow is cancelled. ¬†Cancellations don’t happen often but as we head into the winter months, it is good to take this time to remind patrons that school cancellations and delays affect the morning schedule. ¬†Please be sure to check the website blog/facebook or for more immediate info, follow the studio on twitter (@lizzzrrdlounge), when the weather gets frightful. ¬†Your understanding is so appreciated at these times in particular.

Saturday is looking absolutely spot-on for yoga at kiwanis! ¬†How are we getting so lucky?! ¬†I may be dating myself by saying this but “somebody up there likes me/us!” ¬†And doesn’t that make you wonder where this icon went?! ¬†I digress as usual….

A workshop is in the planning stages. ¬†It is not necessarily a workshop built around the asanas, which is just one limb of the eight limbs of yoga but there may be a component though. ¬†Are you getting curious?1 ¬†I hope so. ¬†It’s part of the dual function of the studio as well, not only to furnish the space to facilitate our asana practice, but to really cultivate other avenues in order to bring us closer to our selves, and our own true nature. ¬†To move us toward action. ¬†So stay tuned, being born takes some time and lots of really good coffee and conversation…which reminds me! ¬†if you ever have an idea that you want to share, please always feel free. ¬†The studio IS a communal space. ¬†It can can serve many purposes and people. ¬†Just contact me via any which way you can ūüôā

Community Updates & New Kiwanis Park Dates

First, a super high-five to the folks who ventured out to the studio yesterday! I loved that I got to spend more time personally getting to know you and that you could see what the experience was to practice within the walls of the studio space. It is important to find a studio that suits your needs and goals. There are many different types and if your practice is to grow, then it is important to scout out your ‘sanctuary’. Thank you for accepting the invitation!

Some of you who follow the studio on facebook know that another community outreach project is directed toward the women and children of HEARTH. The new offices and apartments have moved into the former Zoar Home after complete renovation to the existing structure and grounds. What stands now is a magnificent campus of apartments, offices and landscape to be turned into gardens, play areas for the children and other areas of function use. The apartments themselves, 20 in all with two being retrofitted and allocated to handi-capable clients. The apartments are all unique, meaning the floor plans are different for each and every unit. The ceilings are sweeping and the lighting is grand. It is hard not to be filled with joy waking up and returning, day-after-day to such a space. Most of these families are coming from poverty and despair and these new beginnings could not be better. The two-year restoration and rejuvination of these families self-esteem, living skills and educational enrichment are fundamental to their success. HEARTH has an 85% success rate with getting these families to sustain themselves (as document in their tracking reports for 5 years after their release from the program). Their methodology works. Supporting their efforts as a community is so important. Their children will be entering the Shaler Area School District and will be walking side-by-side with our children. I could not be happier that they are getting the same chances my children are and that collectively, their energies and experiences will offer a whole new opportunity for understanding.

Another community project is on the heels of being announced. Yesterday I met with the Director and things are being finalized. This is another opportunity to bring yoga to a sector of the community that might not ordinarily have exposure/opportunity. I am very excited because it is in collaboration with a new space that is also about the confluence of knowledge and expression; nurturing the mind, body and soul. What could be better!!! [dip it in chocolate maybe…lol ūüôā ]

Okay, onto the dates for Kiwanis Park now…it was a major bummer to get rained-out like that but it was the plan that day for the universe. It brought us to other opportunities. So just as was stated in the past, the weather will predict the practice. Make sure that you hit the “follow” button on this site so that your email will be captured and an automatic email will come to your box with a link every time a new post has been added to this site. It’s less remembering for you. Otherwise if you like to remain under the radar, continue to direct yourself to the facebook page and here accordingly. The choice is yours ūüôā

Drum roll on the dates…

OCTOBER: (if weather holds up)

As always, please email all questions, comments (good & bad), etc. to lizzzrrdlounge@aol.com. Monday’s 4:30pm (walking) Meditation & 5:15pm Fibromyalgia/Gentle (45 min) are always donation-based. So if you are doing your best Curious George impression…come get UNcurious!

As always, I must thank you again for continuing to follow and attend and take in with deep consideration anything that appears on this site. Your ACTIVE support has been very affirmational and motivational. Keep on breathing and doing from the heart!

Have a beautiful Sunday!

Discover Yoga in the Park Article

good morning, friends and yogis. ¬†here’s hoping that your holiday was spent safely and happily doing what you wanted to do and with whom.

for those of you who are discovering about the yoga in the park series, you know how wonderful it is to practice in the early morning air and welcome the sun as it makes its climb high into the sky. ¬†some of you are stumbling to this site thanks to an article by bethany hofstetter in the pine creek journal. ¬†any way you come to your yoga is the right way–the way it’s supposed to happen. ¬†so many of us ask “why couldn’t i have discovered it sooner?!” ¬†well, the answer to that is always the same…you weren’t meant to. ¬†if the desire has been with you to try and it and you live in the shaler area (and surrounding, it is not reserved for shaler residents alone), just show up. ¬†it’s as simple as that.
