Updates & Miscellaneous News

hello yogis!

It has been so good to see your beautiful faces coming to the 9:15am classes @ Embody on Wednesdays and Fridays…kinda just like old times just with different ‘framing’!  The studio at Embody is light and lovely with it’s soft violet haze and lots of windows to let the sun shine in.  The juice & natural food bar opens early so it’s a nice little place to plant yourself and have some tea or other nourishment before practice.

Dates have been finalized for Kiwanis 2014!!!!  start date is saturday, may 3rd!  the schedule will be forthcoming but i just wanted to confirm the most important date being the start 🙂

This saturday, Feb. 15th, Medica will be hosting and running a fantastic EXPO on everything around DETOXING.  The timing couldn’t be better as we begin to transition from the harshest of winter months into the slow gentle beginnings of rebirth…SPRING!  IT WILL BE HERE but the question is how do we prepare ourselves mentally and physically for this stage.  What can we do differently this time?  What negative habits can we replace with beneficial one…we certainly have enough time to reprogram between now and then.  So it’s important to really look at what is going on in your life and in your own personal ‘house’; take stock, reevaluate and purge.  It’s time for renewal and the cultivation of what best serves you.  Let Beverly guide you and answer these questions.  There’s even a chance to work your asanas!  An all-level yoga session will be offered at 2:00pm with yours truly.  This session will be an entry point for many, so there should be no expectation about what is possible or impossible.  Just be present and allow yourself to be guided…that is all.  Space is limited so please follow this link for registration and ticket information….http://www.medicathehealingarts.com/Events.html

Some interesting things are underway for an official start of some community classes coming to the millvale area…stay tuned.  More information should be streaming in a few weeks.

Many have asked me how it feels now not having the studio.  My initial response is of course sadness because I truly loved the space and that it was OUR SPACE, but now, I truly love being portable…mobile and not tethered to one spot.  That I can connect daily outside with all kinds of folks and really work on my work with the community-at-large–that’s oxygen for my fire!!!  I couldn’t feel more vital and focused right now.  So that’s the really super news!!!  2014 is turning out be be an extremely pivotal year for me…i hope that the same is true for you, and that it is really about coming closer to the things/endeavors and people you truly care about.  The things that build you up and help reveal more to you about who and what you truly are about…your own missions and dreams.

I look forward to seeing more of the faces that blessed 2013 and even more new ones just waiting in the wings.  We can never even imagine the goodness that’s out there waiting for us, one connection at a time leading us to the well…the well-th.  wholeness.

Thanks for reading these goofy posts and staying connected in all the ways you do.   as ever, sending love and hope to you all.

namaste.

Teaching Starts on 2/5/14 @ Embody Juice Bar & Studio | Wexford, PA

Finally some solid news on where you can catch me teaching on a regular basis.   Embody Natural Health (of Lawrenceville) has opened up it’s second location on Route 19 in Wexford.  It is right near Rita’s Italian Ice if you are familiar with that landmark!  Follow the link…http://www.embodynaturalhealth.com/

I will be teaching on Wednesday and Friday mornings at 9:15am and it will be the “mindful flow” that you were pretty much accustomed to at LLS. Aimee has a really lovely model and on one side of the building (right) is the juice & food bar and on the other side (left) is the studio. They are connected by a common lounge area which has some couches and books and lots of nice things to cozy up to. Specials run every day so it’s really nice little added bonus to be able to fill up on something hearty and healthy after class. Especially as we are in the throws of this horrid winter season. We all have grown weary and weak from the constant barrage of extreme temperatures. Aimee Woods is an expert on what might be the best remedy for what is ailing you nutritionally.

Please be sure to arrive 10-15 minutes early in order to prepare and set-up. Looking forward to seeing you all again regularly. I am grateful to Aimee for providing the opportunity for former clients to resume their most sacred practice. We are looking for this to be a really supportive endeavor for everyone involved. hands helping hands always!!!

Any questions…shoot me an email! Thank you for your continued fervent support 🙂

December News: Studio Location is Closing :’^(

Well…based on the title of this post, it kind of says it all.  Many of you who regularly attend the studio know that in October, I hit a rough patch with Hampton Township.  The Township had initially okay’d a renewal of Occupany Permit, but then it slowly became a quagmire of misinformation and defiance on their part.  Ultimately, the  Occupancy Permit granted to myself or my landlord was being denied unless the landlord  made thousands of dollars in upgrades/retrofitting to the existing property (in order to satisfy the ordinance requirements based on their new classification of business).  I have tried everything within my powers to stay within this very sacred space, but the reality is, that it is simply impossible based on the strong-arm tactics of this Township.  I do not want to further jeapordize my landlord’s relationship with the Township, so it is with great, GREAT sadness that i make this announcement formally. At a time when (my) the business of yoga was really taking hold professionally, to have to close the physical space and leave many of you without a daily source–is thoroughly heart-breaking for me!  PLEASE KNOW THAT!!!!

So what does this mean?!

This means that my physical, dedicated space is no longer available but i will still be found teaching in other parts around the city and am available for private consulation and group sessions.  And of course, when the warm weather hits again starting at the beginning of May 2014–Yoga @ Kiwanis Park!  Every Saturday @ 8:00am.  I will be posting the dates on this site once confirmed with  Shaler Township was has already given their approval 🙂

How can you book a private session or a mother’s group or other special party/corporate class?

Still continue to stay connected to the studio facebook page–i will be a portable entity–nothing new to a gypsy from birth!  Continue to frequent this blogspot and stay informed by adding yourself to the email followers by pressing the “follow” button.  If you are interested in setting up your own private session or mother’s group (you want to start in your home or someone else’s) or any other type of private party or corporate instruction, just contact me directly via email or the telephone number listed.

Where will i be in the immediate future?

I am going to be joining the family and alliance at Medica…the Healing Arts (http://www.medicathehealingarts.com/) in the North Hills.  Yoga therapy is now under the umbrella of their expansive healing modalities!  The ancient practice of yoga and it’s miraculous benefits have been known for centuries but are only now being scientifically demystified and promoted (for a reason!).  Yoga is one of the best self-help tools known to wo/man…only too many of us haven’t discovered it yet!  That continues to be my job 🙂  So contact me or go directly to Medica’s site and you can find out more and how to book right online!

When is the last day of operation at the studio?

The last day of operation is planned for Saturday, December 28th.  The two morning classes will run as planned.

Last Hurrah planned following last class…

Please join me and other patrons on Saturday, December 28th for a drop-in, hang-out and ‘right proper’ good-bye!  Bring a pot luck or food item and spend some time together before the studio is dismantled and disbanded.  It will give me an opportunity to thank you for bringing your devoted energy & essence and such purpose to my life for the last year, and just a little more time to look into those wonderful eyes and really see the soul of such a treasured yogi (friend)!

This has been such a terribly hard reality to confront but like all things–it is a new beginning that is prefaced by a VERY…SAD…END.  The comfort is in knowing that the connections do not end.

If you have any further questions or comments, just comment or email me.

I hope that I will get to see many of you personally from now until the closing.  Christmas has been taglined the ‘season of giving’ but at the studio, it has been a season of endless giving.  It will always remain that the student is who it is about…all of it.  You rocked, rolled and ruled…and still do 🙂

Peace, love, namaste and all good things to you my dear, dear friends and loving practitioners.  It is only because of you that I existed at all.

Build the Ark and Get to the Studio Today!

It looks like we have to call a foul on this day. Weather is not going to permit practice. Make your way to the studio if you can. Whatever your plans are this weekend, I hope it’s a great one and look forward to seeing you all again next saturday!

A reminder that Monday’s also offer two donation-based classes of a walking meditation from 4:30pm to 5:00pm and Fibromyalgia/Gentle at 5:15pm (45 minutes). Mindful Flow at 6:15pm (75 minutes and is for all levels) is the last class and is offered at the regular class price of $12.00 walk-in rate or $9.00 discount. Passes and the new client $20.00 special for two weeks is always in place.

namaste 🙂

A Mixed Bag

How do these saturdays keep getting better?! Even with rain and a soaked court, we managed to have fun and get a practice in. You all are such troopers for braving the weather and forfeiting your sleep…even baby claire! It is really very special to see the people who return and those who are new, bringing friends, family and others they are connected to…wanting to share the experience of yoga.

So the good news is that Tim Rogers, the Township Director, has given his awesome approval of continuation through August into September and beyond for the program (those dates will be posted shortly). As long as we can work around the weather and I am able to get there–provided there is no township/special event–we will have the ability to practice. This is such good news especially since there are now “regulars” who are working toward a goal. As your breathing and strength increases, your practice will evolve. Any time you have questions or concerns or desires for deepening your practice, ALWAYS feel free to communicate with me. I am always reachable via email at lizzzrrdlounge@aol.com or via this blogspot or you message me on the facebook page.

One way to really bypass having to check in here all the time is to become a “follower”. just click on the “follow” and follow directions and you should receive an email each time a post is added. it saves the step of having to check-in all the time…unless you want to!

I want to also say a very special personal thank you to Hungtington Bank for caring so much about the small business owner. Staying inspired is a little easier when you know that it’s more than just you hoping that you will succeed!

Wishing you all a super weekend hoping you take the time to stop and enjoy where you can. and remember…there is no yin without the yang. balance! 🙂

Michael Jackson at Kiwanis… (No Yoga Next Saturday!!! BOO)

…who KNEW?!  thank you, michael, for giving us a little more “oomph” in our downdog!  maybe some outkast for our next session so we can “shake it like a polaroid picture”!  it just goes to show we never know what we are in for when we show up on our mats…EVER.   aside from the external components, the practice is driven by you; the instructor is really quite insignificant.  so the next time you come to your mat, remember that it is you who is creating your own starting and ending point on your mat, nothing else matters.  external input is yours to do with it what you will.  the question is how will you let it influence your practice– or not?

next week is the 4th of july holiday week and apparently next saturday the township has something planned so we will reconvene the FOLLOWING SATURDAY of JULY 13th @ 8:00am.  no yoga on saturday, july 6th.  please mark your calendars and pass the word along.

so in the meantime, everyone please be safe, happy, healthy and enjoy what time you have over the holidays to fully rejoice in the moment.   we don’t need any more reminders of how short life is.

happy 4th, 5th and all of the days to follow.  live, love, laugh and linger a while–life stretches out when you do.   🙂

Yoga in the Park Tomorrow – Update

The radar is showing that showers will probably be in the area close to noon, so hopefully, the morning still looks good!  If it stays dry up until and around 7am/8am, we can plan on our class.  The good news is that we don’t have mudd to contend with from all of the rain received in the last two days…just one of many advantages practicing on the courts!

A reminder to show up earlier than our 8am starting time.  Bring your mat, towel and water.  Fyi, I have a few mats for rental at $2.00 but there are not many.  If you don’t have a mat, borrow one!

If the weather is turbulent through the night into the morning…check this site for further updates.

WYEP Alternative Souper Bowl to Benefit Hearth

WYEP Alternative Souper Bowl to Benefit Hearth

hello all friends and patron yogis…the link is information about the event that is free to the public when you bring a non-perishable food item (see link for all details).  last year, i started a volunteer yoga project for the women of Hearth and will be going into full swing with it come may 2013.  hearth is one of the most successful programs for women who are transitioning back into the community from domestic violence situations and they work to combat hunger non-stop.  they are absolutely outstanding and the women and children need constant assistance and nurturing.  won’t you consider this event as a treat to yourself and a benefit for others?!  i will be there as a spectator and would love to see some familiar faces.  if you have not been to the carnegie library of homestead…than you should take the field trip for that alone.  the music hall is insanely wonderful…the acoustics and intimacey factor ratchet it up to a 10 on the small venue scale, and then, if you open your eyes while you listen…you are in the 12 range.  it’s pretty glorious!

THE STUDIO WILL BE CLOSED that SUNDAY, FEB. 3 to attend.  so come on out, we’ll all play hookey together!  😉
